Biography
Andrés Felipe Vásquez Quintero received his Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering from Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería, (in Bogotá - Colombia) and Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Nationale d'Ingenieurs de Metz, (in Metz – France) in 2008. He obtained his MSc. in Microelectronics Engineering from Delft University of Technology (in Delft - The Netherlands) in 2010. He obtained his Ph.D. at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), SAMLAB/EnviroMEMS (in Neuchâtel – Switzerland), in topics related to Microsystems/MEMS, Smart electronics packaging, flexible sensing devices and ultra-thin hybrid flexible integration.
He is a former postdoc fellow funded by the SNSF (Swiss National Science Foundation) and the Marie Skłodowska Curie IntraEuropean (MSCA-Horizon 2020) grants. His work involves the study of novel smart packaging solutions for medical devices, either implantable or wearable. He is currently funded by the innovation mandate fellowship from Agentschap Innoveren en Ondernemen (VLAIO) in order to realize autonomous smart contact lenses for vision correction applications. From 2016 on he works for IMEC, the Interuniversity Micro Electronics Centre, with headquarters in Leuven, as a Specialist Researcher. From September 1st 2018, he was appointed as part time Assistant Professor at the University of Ghent.
